Both GOOD and BAD news!
Bonjou! M'espwa tout moun yo tre byen.
We have stayed busy the last couple of days. On Tuesday we even helped build a house for an older lady in the church who hurt her foot. I finally got to see Peter there in the village (for those of you that know that story). i asked him why he wasnt at church on Sunday and he said that he hasnt been going ever since i left but now that i am back he will start going again. Yesterday i worked in the office with Leah, that is until the battery died and we lost electricity. I spent the rest of the day at the Hope House with the kids. We had church last night at 4 and the praise and worship was good (as always) with Claudel. But then, Pastor Josweh shared a lil word.......for over and hour!! Especially when you dont understand anything he is saying, an hour is a long time to sit on those hard wooden benches. He wasnt even finished when the Americans had to get up and leave bc we were late for dinner and didnt want Amis (the cook) to wonder where we were and we didnt want the food to get cold. (Last night was the Haitian meal and it was mighty fine.)
Okay, the good news...Last night we found out that the "ring leader" of the largest gangs in Haiti was shot and killed yesterday! It took the U.S. telling the U.N. that they werent coming in to help and that they need to step it up and regain control of the situation. So the U.N. joined with the Haitian police and went into City Sol (the worst part of Haiti, on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince) and shot him. They also arrested a lot of the actual gang members. The interesting part of the story is that on Monday 2 pastors went in to share Christ with the ring leader and he refused and then just 2 days later....well you know.
Now for the bad news...Huricane Dennis is currently passing over this lil country! Now dont worry about me, the mission is located in a cove and this area has never been hit, even last year during the terrible hurricane season. When i look out the front windows of the house, i can see it built up over the other side of the island. Normally when i look across the bay, i can see land, but i cant see anything other than the clouds. (For those of you that have been here...i can barely even see Port-au-Prince.) So, PLEASE PRAY for Haiti right now. Pray for the people and the villages that are being hit and ask God to protect them. Im not real familiar with that side of the island, except i know the Baptist Mission is located up on that hill and they will need our prayers.
Well im out, i have a feeling im about to lose power as the rains start to come. So, please people, PRAY!

Hey, hope that everything is going good. Been watching the news on Hurricane Dennis. I just got back from vacation in FL and we got out just before it hit. You will be in my prayers! Take care! By the way, Happy Birthday!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! Sorry, darling, that we can't have some massive party or something to celebrate! ;-) I love you tons, though... and I'm sure you'd rather be there right now anyhow!
AMY!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday!!!!!!! You're how old?! 20 years of beauty and grace?! Hey, we can't wait to see you. Ian will be back after Fine Arts so we can all go hang out before you leave for China. If everything goes well, maybe he will leave really funny stupid messages on your blog, like me! And then you two can take time to become friends, and then maybe more.....as long as you both shall live. Its gonna happen.....God told me so. We're gonna be next door neighbors! And our kids can play! And we'll barbeque all the time! Okay, I'm gonna go. Happy birthday girl. We really are ready for you to come home...even if just for a little bit. Be safe and God bless always. I'll be in prayer for you.
